Who We Are? On January 2008, PERSIANCALLIGRAPHY.ORG began to work. It has been founded by independent Persian Calligraphy Artists. Here is where you can get more familiar with us and our background.
We believe in sharing the beauty of Persian culture with our Iranian and Non-Iranian friends from all over the world. We also feel responsible to introduce our gorgeous calligraphy to the new generation of Iranian children who live abroad and are willing to become more familiar with Persian culture.
Payman Hamed
Payman Hamed was born in 1975 in the city of Tabriz, Iran. Being in a calligraphers family - two of his uncles and one of his cousins were calligraphers- he's had great passion to this ever since he started reading and writing. His father, uncles and cousin encouraged him to learn this beautiful art when he was very young.
After a few years self-study, in the year 1992 he met Babak Torki who happened to be his classmate in engineering school. At the time, Babak was attending master Beyzaavi’s calligraphy classes so he encouraged Payman to enroll in the same calligraphy class. Payman enrolled in these classes and worked on his instinctive calligraphy talent the great master’s supervision and received “Excellent” certificate from the Iranian Society for Persian Calligraphy. He has been a member of this organization in the past 15 years.
Aside from his artistic educations, Payman received his masters degree in civil engineering and works as a professional engineer; but his devotion to the art of Persian calligraphy encouraged him to establish PersianCalligraphy.ORG, a worldwide and online calligraphy class and art gallery, to promote and introduce this art to the interested art-lovers from all over the world. He is member of technical board and one of the instructors at the online calligraphy classes.
